Got off work early today so I milled the 98' CR250 Ignition backing plate per asteroid500 thread:

Greg got the motor buttoned up, complete rebuild, all new piston, bearings and rod kit, side cover, clutch kit, etc, ect... :D

I replaced the shock, linkage bearings and will do the swingarm bearings this weekend!! Don't have a Press so I made do with what I had, get'er done :lol:

Had Greg weld up the damaged swingarm and I grinded it smooth today after work.

just now I see you mention the swingarm damage, does anyone know why this happens? im forever getting that issue on bikes throughout the years.

Not sure that's how my roller came, I was thinking that the chain snapped and maybe binded up front... I have never had it happen to one of my bikes.

Chain run too loose, chews thru the rubber slider, and right thru the swingarm next.

This will not happen with proper maintenance! This includes replacing the slider before it hits aluminum

Polisport sliders are cheap, and seem to hold up "ok" so far, maybe a little noisier. I Have one on one of my conversions. No complaints so far

The TM designworks one is supposed to be quieter than stock and be "self lubricating" nylon.... I like their guides, haven't tried their slides.

I was wondering, I've always ran it by what the local shop told me, 3 fingers snug at the end of the runner. Guess I need to change that. I was starting to think it was my weight

Read the manual, and see what it says in comparison to what you've Ben doing.

A 12 or 13 tooth countershaft sprocket will wear out the slider WAY faster than a 14 or 15, just due the smaller diameter.

The chain slider is designed to wear out it has to sure you can slow it down with maintenance and running a appropriate sprocket who would put a 13 tooth on a 500 cc anything anyway

they work well and last well good for chain allignment ,but their rock hard and louder the stock when u get a chain slap but alot thicker on the chain slides and hits cost as much as 4 cheap ones though :?:

She's finally done boys!!!! I know it's only a gen 1 but when money is tight it’s tight.... :lol: I want to thank all the hoons that have helped me out along the way with their knowledge and parts that made this a reality!!! Hat's off to you boys, no particular order but to name a few...

I'm sure it is a record :lol:

My daughter has been in the garage helping daddy, she's amazing at 2 years old on how well she retained what each tool does. It has made my build that much more special, my wife has supported me with my hobby and the build. Times got tuff after I lost my job back in January of 2011 but we have made it and it has taught us how much more important the little thing in life are and has made us stronger as a family!!
