Just got my suspenders back from the shopShanMan wrote:excellent progress brother! Keep chuggin' along and you will be roostin' soon! BTW: for gen. one bikes...beyond the conversion: the best money you will soend is to get your suspension DIALED professionally. It forgives some of the rigidity that some complain from on the gen. one bikes. It's essential.
Great work!
Followed Shanman's advise and put my coin towards getting my suspension done by a Pro, Luckily for me I just happen to Know a Pro! My bro Greg from High Velocity Cycles
We're going to get together sometime this week to get my engine buttoned up! Get’er done!!

Not sure that's how my roller came, I was thinking that the chain snapped and maybe binded up front... I have never had it happen to one of my bikes._mel_45_ wrote:just now I see you mention the swingarm damage, does anyone know why this happens? im forever getting that issue on bikes throughout the years.

Chain run too loose, chews thru the rubber slider, and right thru the swingarm next.
This will not happen with proper maintenance! This includes replacing the slider before it hits aluminum
Polisport sliders are cheap, and seem to hold up "ok" so far, maybe a little noisier. I Have one on one of my conversions. No complaints so far
The TM designworks one is supposed to be quieter than stock and be "self lubricating" nylon.... I like their guides, haven't tried their slides.

I was wondering, I've always ran it by what the local shop told me, 3 fingers snug at the end of the runner. Guess I need to change that. I was starting to think it was my weightGmbond wrote:Chain run too loose, chews thru the rubber slider, and right thru the swingarm next.

The chain slider is designed to wear out it has to sure you can slow it down with maintenance and running a appropriate sprocket who would put a 13 tooth on a 500 cc anything anyway

they work well and last well good for chain allignment ,but their rock hard and louder the stock when u get a chain slap but alot thicker on the chain slides and hits cost as much as 4 cheap ones thoughGmbond wrote:

BUT......
Thats a real nice bike you got, and a daughter, and your still married.
I'd say you did it just right.....
My daughter has been in the garage helping daddy, she's amazing at 2 years old on how well she retained what each tool does. It has made my build that much more special, my wife has supported me with my hobby and the build. Times got tuff after I lost my job back in January of 2011 but we have made it and it has taught us how much more important the little thing in life are and has made us stronger as a family!!
