PJ issues on freshly rebuilt motor

I am having some carb issues.
the pilot, needle, and main are set to honda manual specs for elevation and temp.
toward the end of my last ride, the only way i could get my bike started (it was HOT) was choke on and 1/4 throttle and the bike stalls on long uphills

, and surges with the throttle off on downhills.
the lean condition is causing it to run really hot.
either the float is sticking or the level is off, right? or bad slide a possiblity?
anything else that i might be overlooking?

help?
been chasing this carb issue for a while now. Sudco is not far from where i work....might take the carb in to show the experts...

can you post the #s of what you have in it.
i really doubt the slide is having anything to do with it.
carb slide closing all the way? not hung on cable?
exhasut plugged?
now for the stupid questions...
plug wet?
trans oil level still up?
pipe unreal hot?
this is the prox piston motor? how much does it open in your port?
what reed?
does it backfire alot?
does it ping at a predictable throttle position?
what fuel?

ok:
i run 32:1 927 with pump 91 octane. (always have)
boyesen superstock reeds (new)
tranny is all good (new)
yes this is the pro-x piston 90.25
slide is closing as it idles fine on level ground.
didn't check the plug, its in a gen 1 and its a real pain to pull the plug trailside...
pipe was HOT
no ping
no backfire
exhaust port looks good on the skirt.
this is a replacement carb that i fleabayed to replace the junk one i got from Rjacks a couple of years ago. i didn't test the float level yet. ran great in the neighborhood, ran lean as shit on at 5,000 ft and 90 degrees outside.
should be really rich at high temp and high elevation.
main =170
pilot = 52
dg needle in 4th position.
gotta be starving, right?

the level is cool, and there isn't excessive smoke.

It sounds like mag. side main seal could be leaking air ? Lean burn?,carb. won't adjust?,over run when throttle is backed off?,hard to start?, air leak when reving throttle!! and back off it tends to run on? or 4-stroke? Jeff Ask Mike to lend a ear. Glen

the float level was way off. i'll give a test run tonight and see if it improves.
i put all new OEM seals so unless i botched the install it shouldn't be leaking at the mag side crank.
also sprayed the intake boot and reed block with ether to check for leaks. nuthin.
glen have you had a chance to mail the case saver?
