I can get it (82) off a friend for cheap, needs a good cleaning. Is there any real market for these?

Yeah, I have one I'm reworking for the post vintage races.
You gonna get it for yourself or resale?
What's he asking for it?

Not really sure what I'd do with it yet, I can pick it up for a couple hundred.

There is a market for everything. These bikes are popular in vintage motocross, but the 1983 model is better and commands a higher price. If it is in good condition you might sell it on for $800-$1,000.

Keep me posted if you want to turn it over or part it out.
I'm on the hunt for some CZ's right now but would consider another 480.
I kinda like the 4 speed tranny. Tony

I have a 1983 cr480 that a bought a few months ago for a project, I only need the engine and was going to part out the rest. Im hoping a vintage racer needs some spare race parts. Are there any vintage mx messageboards or websites that you hoons know of?

There is a CR480 specific group on Yahoo Groups.
Here's the best vintage site I know of.

The front-end should be sold easily as it is a drop in upgrade for the late 70s CR250R and CR450R...
