I always thought husabergs were just the tryout bikes for KTM stuff, kinda like available prototypes.

Husaberg was a spin off of Husqvarna by a few employees.
KTM bought it and expanded their design to develop the RFS, used until 2008.

Correct. Which prompts the question why would a Husaberg buyer want to buy a blue and yellow KTM?

Rumor has it they may have - fuel injection or maybe direct injection. Will be a big deal if it happens, they have been testing it in Europe. 2t evolution, hell yes. If so I'll be happy to ride a blue and yellow machine.
