Hey Glen, I have always liked having you here, your opinions come from alot of expieriance. Could you plase tell me what paddle tire would be best with your race port ?, I want to use it on sand mountain UT. I know that everybody has their thoughts, and I have already seen them. Thanks for your help.

We were running a 18 paddle offset "DOM" SCAT-TRAX on a 628X18 carcas. The gearing as I remember was 15-46 we beat ever thing there but a dune buggy with a MAZDA ROTARY ENGINE (with two turbo's)It ran so good that a very famous guy by the name of ROBBIE KNIVEL rode the bike several times and fell in love with it (he wanted to buy it) But it was a experimental bike and was not for sale.I would think if you we're to have a good running CR-500 geared 14-49 a 12 or 14 paddle "DOM" would do very well my next choice because of the size being 560X18 would be a chin 10 paddle because they spin good and come up on top of the sand and they are only about $50.00 at any bike shop VS $125.00 for a "DOM" 12paddle.Glen
Thanks Glen, can you please help the poor sole out ? what does DOM mean on the SCAT- TRAX, and do you stock a 12 paddle. Thanks Glen

Have you been there lately? the road has all been grated from the turn off to the ranger station to sand mountain and to oasis, it realy sucks. Dont bother cleaning anything beforehand, my truck and trailer was a mess. Hpoe they get it done soon, we went on 6-5-10 so maybe they will have started to pave it, my freind went over memorial weekend and said it was all tore up then.

DOM = Dominator, they are a square edged paddle tire.

from the main highway all the way to the mnt has been paved for many years, atleast 17 years because thats when i started going there. they probly tore it up to do a re-pave, just a guess. 2-3 weeks is when ill be there, possibly july 4th weekend. not 100% sure exactly yet. you got a running bike to ride ?

Yea I agree, Ive seen a few of J lewis's bikes running dominators at dumont and aside from throwing a kickass looking roost I dont think they are that good in the sand.
IMO I would go with a hooker if you aint gonna use it much or a Viper if your a dune regular.

havent tried the viper yet but i got one im going to mount and try hopefully sunday. from what i can tell it looks pretty good for the sand.

Viper is pretty much the same scoop side as the hooker it just has a reinforcing rib down the back of it for longevity.
My 12 paddle viper has lasted 3 seasons at the dunes and is just now getting to the point where I wanna get a new one. Ive killed a hooker in one season.
The hooker is definatly lighter tho.

The dom sucks in the dunes glen, nothing to do with power it just sucks.
Its like running a drag slick in a rockcrawling competition....
