according to wikipedia they discover the oil leaking april 24, they started the first relief hole may 2, a second relief hole wasnt started for another 3 weeks on may 16
. i have a theory what happened: they were relying 100% the blow out preventer would work if there was a problem, well it malfunctioned and they had NO backup plan so they were scratching their heads wondering what the fuck to do. today they still have no idea what the hell to do
