A girl I hung out with in high school was a groupie for them before they released their first album, she gave me a tape with an early recording of "wait and bleed" on it that was pretty badass. I liked the bands music and some of the members sounded pretty cool, but I don't feel bad for an OD'd junkie any more that a morbidly obese person who dies of a heart attack.
