Case bearings

Reposting this questions since Seans post was lost when the server crashed.

My right case mainshaft and counter shaft bearings seem to have slip fit to them, they go in tight , but pull out with my finger. I see no signs of them spinning in the case. From most the reading I have done this seems to be the norm. I am guessing or assuming that the mainshaft is held in for the most part by the shifter guide plate, unsure about the countershaft bearing. Question is should I locktite the new ones in place?

The main shaft bearing has locking tabs so the shaft can be held in place by the clutch hub nut, and lateral movement checked. (bearing could still spin though)

The counter shaft is locked into place with the drive sprocket bolt and the bearing behind it locked into place with tabs again, so lateral movement checked.

So in theory the 2 smaller bearings without locking tabs can float a bit because they are held in the housings by the shafts regardless.

In my experience using bearing loctite doesn’t work, the next time you go in again the bearings are loose again, I don’t think they spin, I think the loads are such that they work just fine like that. But look for a hairline crack between the bearing housings, that’s a different matter, and that would need a repair.

Just my opinion, for what it’s worth.
