This is my third honda I have brought home in the last few weeks.
2008 CBR 125.
167 kms.
Girlfriend didn't like riding the 2 stroke NS 50,
so now I can ride the 2 stroke while she learns on this.

I'll see what I can do!
I'd like one of those for myself, Bob.
Or a 500!

				nice bike, cool girl!
but....
a 125 4 stroke streetbike? does the thing even move?
specs say 13.1HP @ 10000 RPM, and a dry weight of 280 lbs......
im not advocating putting a beginner on a high power bike, but i cant see how that thing would do much over 40 MPH max.
so how does it run?

Top speed for the CBR125 is 74mph.....sell it and get her a Kawasaki Ninja 250....it will go 105mph....not that she needs to go that fast, but it will have better power at normal speeds.

kinda what i was thinking....74MPH with a backwind, downhill.......it cant get there very fast.
if i was to get a rocket, a 250 it would be.....anything bigger would get me killed.

If she's riding a different bike, how's she gonna "grab" you when you wheelie.
That's the fun stuff.

I had a friend who had a honda rebel 250... what a useless bike, I think I may have gotten it to 80mph on PCH holding WFO for like 5 minutes. But that should make a good learner for the girl, shes not going to pop any 5th gear wheelies by accident.

125 is just to small, not even freeway legal in Cali.

I have piloted the 125 for a total of about 1.3 minutes.
It has a higher top speed than my 1990 NS 50, pictured beside it.
Both bikes take a long time to get up to any more than 50mph,
and I would never consider taking them on the highway.
The only reason I got the 125 was because she was scared of stalling the 50
and not being able to restart it quickly enough in traffic.
I bought the 125 from couple who only put 80 miles on it,
then let their neighbor put another 80 miles on it,
then sold it to me at a loss of $1500!

She will probably just use it to get her license on this year, then get a bigger one.
Maybe I can get her into mini road racing, or I will just keep it in the stable for laughs.
This one brings me up to 8 running bikes.
1982 Honda CB 450 SC Nighthawk
1985 Honda GL 1200 Interstate
1986 Honda XR 100
1990 Honda NS 50
1999 Honda CR 250/500 conv.
2001 Suxzuki GSXR 1000 turbo
2006 Honda CRF 450x
2008 Honda CBR 125
