Case Studs?

I am putting a new motor together, and was putting the studs in to the new cases and the threads seem screwed up.
On the case side, the nuts thread on smooth, but on the cyl side they start, but get tight/won't thread without force.
Studs and nuts are new OEM Honda, fresh out of the baggie and all 4 are the same way. The treads on one end match the other by laying them into each other. Normal or did I get 4 junk studs?

just a guess but you might have them upside down. been awhile since i looked but i think the case side thread is different than cylinder side. cant remeber though
never mind i might be thinking of the head studs thats different threads

The threads *appear* to be the same on either side. I layed the case side of one and cyl side of another together and they matched. I also took a peak at the other motor I have as well as a left case and I have the correct sides of the studs.
I have a hunch what I'm seeing is normal, since I've got 4 new, OEM studs and they're all the same. If I had one acting odd, I would be inclinded to buy a replacement. I just want to see whats up before I assemble and have torque values messed up due to the drag.
The cylinder studs are definately bigger on the jug side...

sounds weird. ace has a thing by the bolt section that tells you what size threads you have, maybe check that out. ive heard parts have been put in the wrong bag before. not sure how common it is though.

is it possible that it may have some loctite or similar in there and may need a tap run thru it to clean the threads

I guess I had the sides of the stud backwards, even though they should be the same. Thanks roosty.

The threads are the same on both ends, but apparently I was trying to put them in upside down. They're in now, and went in ok... took a little enforcing, but not much.
