Diesel additives
What are you guys running for additives, if any?

cetane boost in our 00 EX with a 02 7.3.
adds some of the sulfur back into the fuel that is now missing. truck definitely runs better with it.

Thanks guys.
5 years, 125,000 miles and I've never used additives.
Zero, zip, nada.
I've only had a few injector issues, covered.
Recently an EGR issue, not covered. $$$
Another studder cropped up.
I'm just realizing that everyissue was precipitated by a mountain trip. We ski.
Believe me this truck does not like the cold.
I think the possibility of getting some bad or marginal fuel on the road with cold weather is not a good combo.
I just used some Sea Foam. Cleared up the studder. Still feels a little lazy.
Like I said earlier after 5 years I'm realizing it needs a little help in the cold.

Yeah I use the wal-mart 2T oil in mine. 1oz per gallon is the ratio. I wouldnt use it on any EGR/CAT equipped Diesel though. Mine is a 7.3 with none of that stuff and the ULSD is the primary reason for adding it...did make a difference in quieting down the injectors and adding some MPG.
I do use this as well and recommend this stuff:
That works well - helps in cold climates too. Check it out.
Bob did a write up about some stuff he used but I forget what it was called....

The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

ford 6.0? egr is a notorious problem on the 6.0 as is the turbo in pre '07 years, it gums up with oil from not having enough drainage. There is also a wire harness that rubs on the motor somewhere that can cause some bizaar issues. studder could be that wire harness.Mad Dog wrote:Thanks guys.
