Did the kickstarter spindle break? Usually if they're bent and you go to start it that happens. Even more so if it has lots of compression.

ive heard of people welding them. they are alloy, not magnesium like in the old ones.

ive heard this problem occurs if you havent installed your kickstarter correctly.

A new one is around $120 so don't bother with epay- I have seen them go for more than that

So you don't need a left side? Just right and clutch case? Was the kicker gear and the splined shaft indexed properly?

were the shims on the shaft? if the shims are missing, the kicker gear will move over just enough to grab the flywheel gear at the same time and bind everything up. good luck, mang...

I'm not sure. :? It was a 1990 CR 500 he's been riding for a few years now.
Then he got a 2006 CR250 an I did the conversion. then he took it out and BAMMMM all over but the crying... I'm going to call HONDA an get some new cases. I'll know more when I open it up.....
