Im seriously considering shelling out the 200 for the clutch and another 70 for the ASV F3 lever for it.

Are they any good? i can definitely see the advantages, especially the lighter clutch pull, but how much do they typically cut the pull down, and are they worth it?

If you are talking about the Magura Jack (which is the only thing clutch related I can find that they make), from what I can tell, the 2 are mutually exclusive. The ASV is for a cable actuation and the Magura is a hydraulic actuation that replaces your cable. If you frequently suffer from fatigue with your clutch hand, yeah, the Magura is worth the $200. It made my 500's pull feel like a 125's. It will also very much change the "feel" of engagement. Some would argue that's good, others would argue it's bad. I like mine on my 500. I don't want one for the 250. I can't speak to the ASV. Never tried one.

I have one... it sucks ass.....

The pull is 100% linear, like a cable thats pulling in on a spring. There is no "feel" to it.

In the OEM set up, the lever is pulling around an arc. It gets progerssivly harder to pull, until you pass the high point on the arc, and then it gets easier. It provides instant feedback on "where" in the throw you are.

I curse that Magura everytime I go ride.... but its still on there.

I dotn have a problem pulling the lever, but after 5 hours on the bike in the woods, it can get a bit laborious.

as for the ASV levers, they kick ass. not only are they tough as hell, the reach is easily adjustable. If you break levers even only once a year, these are well worth the cash.

The Jack lever is also easily / quickly adjustable for the reach.

i been thinking about a hydro clutch on my ktm. problem is they dont make one specifically for it, so i would have to niggyver something from a different model. i heard some guys were modding the 200 ktm hydros so they work on the 550, havent actually seen one done but "supposedly" they work sweet.

You can get ASV levers for the Magura Jack clutch. Bob's observations are correct about the feel of the engagement point, but it's not a show-stopper for me.

My KTM EXC520 has a Magura hydraulic and its been a pain in the ass. If there's even a tiny leak it will suck air from that little reservoir. The only way to bleed it is to reverse pressure bleed with a syringe.

I refill the reservoir habitually but still loose the clutch every now and then.

I LOVE hydros on my street bikes but dont have tons (not years, like the street) of experience with them in the dirt. I have ridden a bunch of KTMs and a Husky (only a total of about 3-5 hours total combined) and never really noticed too much "lack of feel" and pretty much forgot they were hydro until the end of the ride and my left hand was still happy! The KTMs were mostly Magura, the Husky is Brembo (if I remember right).

One thing I always warn people about hydros are you have no warning that your clutch is wearing out until its gone (had to tow a buddy several miles back to the truck for this very reason). On a cable clutch your adjuster gives you ample heads up...

A hyrdo clutch coupled with an Auto Clutch is the best of the best IN MY SHORT BUS OPINION...

i have ASV C5 levers on my RM they take serius abuse to break they will bend though, the only way i could break mine was trying to bend it back from looking like a mosquito coil. Snap

Which way did you bend the lever?

I guess it as much about taste as anything, but I hardly ever do any super-technical riding so I probably couldn't tell a difference.

I do like it that in 2 years I haven't had to do a single bit of maintenance on the magura setup. I know others that haven't been so lucky.

Ive had mine on 3 diff bikes and over 3 years and have done nothing to it, one of the best mods I ever did. Used to be the best mod untill I got a GPR

it bent towards the front tyre and kept bending around inside itself, kind of like a dogturd, or MR whippy

So you are saying it coiled up like a snake in the direction the lever flexes?
