85 cr500 question

I can pick up a non running 85 pretty cheap locally. I have a 99 cr500 that I picked up to do a AF swap on. I'm not really interested in the chassis at all but would the engine be good to have? From what I can tell this engine doesn't share to much with the 99. Are the engine mounts at least the same where I could use the cases for mock up? Thanks guys.

im sure the engine mounts are the same location. cylinder is lower so you have to take that into account when doing the Y. head is lower so also consider that when making a headstay. i would just take the '99 engine out and use it for mock up since thats the engine youll run anyways. why you want a old junk bike ? for spare parts or engine mock up or fix and ride it ?

oh and the swinger bushings are different size, i forgot about that. allot of fuckin hassle just to use it for mock up puposes.

You just answered my question, I don't want an old junky bike. If I could of used the engine as a spare/mock up and sell the rest of it off and make my money back would of been worth it.
