Exhaust port vein

nice collection of parts there......i have a question in that picture if you look closely at the roof of the exhaust port i couldnt help notice that vein and how it extends out to the opening, has that been the result of port work or is that stock, i want to put my finger in my hole and find out but dont wanna take pipe off,,the reason i ask is i had veins to help with turbulence ground into my ford iron heads and im wondering if its the same principle,it aids in directing the flow where it suppose to go.....

A smaller carb like the 41 would be easier to suck 2 1/2 times the fuel needed for the methanol because of the signal strength but its hard for me to believe that a 41mm would make the same HP as a 44 or even 50 like I run.
But I am sure the throttle response is excellent on that carb.
Not trying to spar with anyone just stating my opinion

And if you want to a big carb look at a pro-stock snowmobile
I know a guy running 57mm carbs on a 3 cylinder 1000 thats only 333cc for each 57mm carb!
I can't remember the name of these carbs but I swear my 50mm lectron would pass thru that carb!
They are made from billet aluminum and use all mikuni tuning stuff and no they are not the cutler carbs

whether its 2x or 2.5x or 3x, the point is you need to get alot more fuel in the engine somehow. (and as a general rule you can plan on 2x more). so with the extra fuel wouldnt you need more air ? 41 seems a bit small for a 500cc single cylinder. do you drill out the dump tube and main jet ?... cuz i aint seeing how your putting 2.5x more fuel through. 23% more power seems a bit optimistic, around 10% would probly be more realistic :lmao:

exactly ! and thats why nobody uses pwk except the small banshee guys running 200cc per hole.

pwk has no business being on a 500cc single cylinder unless its a gas burner. call any fukin engine builder that knows his head from ass and they will say the same damn thing

clyde
air flow doesn't increase, the amount of fuel does. The fuel ratio for methanol is in the area of 5.0-6.0 to 1 where gas is 14.7-12.5 to 1

Now a 41mm on 500 especially a modded one will have higher a velocitiy and cfm of air threw it compared to a 250 but that is because of the signal strength a larger bore creates.
41 are very common on 250-330 cc drag/dune motors but they will have larger jets because of the weaker signal strength. But they do make more hp on a 41 than a 38.
But in the case of glens application torque and throttle responce is very important so 41's have ther place on 500+ motors.
I drag in the sand so I have allot of tire spin and hp wins in flat racing so thats what I am chaseing.

A CR500 @ 6,000rpm, and a 330cc Big bore kit motor @ 8,000 move about the same amount of air.

i can see why hillclimbers prefer race gas and NO2. alky probly doesnt respond well if you have to chop the throttle 15 times up the hill and it can load up in the motor. it should work great at glamis though

no problem chopping an alky motor 4 or 2 stroke if tuned, ask any dirt car racer

Roosty, what kind of HP gain do you experience between Gas and Alky?

10%?

20%

More? Less?

im not familiar with dirt cars. does the engine drop 5000rpm, then they chop it back full throttle on 75* incline ?

i can see a substantial power gain over old watered down 85 octane pump gas, 20% may be possible. from what ive read and heard its "roughly" +/- 10% gain over good race fuel.

my "late-model"guys 'll drop a 355 chevy from 11000 to 6500 or close to while they pitch the car into the corner, usually they hook so hard they carry the front left tire the entire race, and if they arent careful the front right coming out of the corner, so ya kinda the same thing after the big cornering inertia and the acceleration they're getting its likely more forces than the bike
