I have a buddy that pulled out of a jobsite in Escondido. He was pulled over by CHP while driving his F450. CHP took a good look at his truck, which is all stock, then put a sticker on the windshield.

This was back in September. They told him, starting the 1/1/10 that CHP was going to be cracking down on diesels.

They also told him, the target vehicles are going to be the lifted 4x4's.

Just as a note, they did check to see if his exhuast was stock and apparently there is no grandfather clause for '98+ trucks that were modified before the law went into effect.

This is just Bullshit.

Welcome to Kommiefornia!

Well, mine goes to stock tune for smog. WTF does exhaust have to do with it? Stock exhaust is only more restrictive and will smoke more with tunes - excessive tunes.

Your just jealous. You want that Duramex to run like a ford so you gotta put two stroke oil in the fuel.

BITCH!!

my 7.3 loves two stroke oil!

I think that'd be certain death to a D-Max emissions.

Damn! So do I keep looking at getting a diesel or say F it and go gas?

Posted: March 18th, 2010, 10:56 am
by hoofarted
Nah - I'd still go diesel. Just be selective in choosing.

To get my Dmax to pass is a 2 minute software "switch-a-roo" back to OEM programming and pulling out the EGR blocker plate... another 2 minutes.

Get a Diesel Larry....

We have had to run them through emission testing for the last 15 years up here on the west side. I AM NOT SAYING TO DO THIS, but what I have done in the past with diesels that I wasnt sure about was to run the tank low and through in a bottle of rubbing alcohol. It leans the mix a little. But I have never tried it on the newer motors.

The only thing in cali i know they have been testing is semi's. I know there gona change the rules on pickup's but i have'nt seen anything with there final decision on rule's and restrictions.
