Help needed...

I'm building a new motor for the kart, and need to order a set of cases. I cannot order a left case without a VIN and engine number from the bike (which I don't have) as well as my drivers license number. Does anybody have a clean VIN/Engine number I can use for the sake of ordering the parts?

You might try finding a 500 for sale on eBay and change the last 4 numbers if the VIN is listed.

94+... without the black paint. I don't know how much it matters to SH tho... I'm sure it's just a theft prevention deal so they can run the numbers to make sure it's clean.

I got a couple engine tags from roosty, but no vins. I may have gotten one ordered without either locally.. I will find out shortly.

It was only for the left engine case, which has the motor number on it. I'm sure it's a way to check against theft. According to both SH and a local Honda dealer I talked to, it isn't the seller than needs the info, it's Honda. SH told me that it would take 2 weeks to get the left case in.

It just sucks in a deal like mine... I don't have a CR500 bike, both of my motors are used on a kart, so the VIN number is something I would never have since I've bought both of my motors already off a bike.

If you want to prevent theft, doing it when selling parts isnt the way to do it.

running a VIN for these to see if they are stolen is a joke. the State Highway Patrol wont help you a bit, and couldnt tell me where i could be helped. Seems the only way to know its been stolen is if you have the owner standing there with the title.......

Well put it like this, how many times when any of us are out riding has an ORV cop ran the VIN on your bike?

I've never had it happen to me personally but Carnegie OHV does it all the time, alot of my friends have had their VINs run....
