So, I met up with the inspector today to get the house its inspection. everything was looking good, a couple minor issues, 1 bad lightswitch, 1 cracked roof tile, etc. but all the norm until he opens up the breaker panel and sees the ground warning sticker for Kitec plumbing. aparently there is a huge clas action suit over corrosion in the fittings causing a failure requiring the whole house to be replumbed.

From what I've read, the tubing is good stuff, but the brass fittings dezinkify from the nasty hard water here. I can't find any discussion on the idea of replacing the fittings alone. I realise the line would have to be cut a little shorter and couplers put in place, but I don't understand why the whole house had to be repiped.

Of coarse, the other issue is that the kitchen island has both the sink and dishwasher in it. they run pax-al-pax into the foundation when they pour, but it can't be replaced with hard lines, only smaller pax lines run inside of it. That would be fine except I knwo dishwasher have issues with water supply.

anyway, just wondering what you guys think?

Sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me!

Our neighborhood built by KB was part of that. I lucked out and they stopped using them before my house was plumbed. But everything I have heard is complete replumb due to there may be clogging of the pipes already happening like plaque in a blood vessel. Ours was going to be replumbed for free under the class action. As for the lines in the foundation, I think that might just be screwed. Maybe jack the house up and re-pour the pad. I have a small floor jack if it would help.

well, for an update... I decided to go ahead and buy the house. aparently this litigation has been going on for years and it just finished. a $1.1Billion settlement to pay plumbers to completely replumb every house including mine. I talked to the people involved and submitted my claim, they will completely replumb the new house before I move in I guess the plumbers really prefer an empty house enough to put them at the front of the list.

nice to hear its getting fixed.
I'll have to post up some pics of what i've been dooing
i dug arround the house,
installed drain tile and its own well,
applied a foundation sealer to the outside of the concrete from 14" above ground level to below the footing,
spray-foamed the interior of the basement and studded it all,
removed 1 of the 2 electrical pannels and installed a new larger single one,
changed the house from baseboard heat to a forced air electric furnace.
did 6 new windows
did exterior insulation above the foundation and new siding
built a new bathroom in the basement with a shower,
built 2 more new walls,
did some repair to the floor to level it.

Is almost done, ordered flooring thismorning
