I need a long lasting chain and sprockets. It's been a while and I need some one to educate me or point me in the proper direction.
Last chain I had was an o ring on an 88 YZ250.

Ironman sprockets are really durable and fairly light. A little pricey but worth it.

avoid aluminum sprockets.

ive heard good thing aboutRocky Mountain's Primary Drive.

sidewinder, ironman, supersprox are also good brands, but are pricier.

primary drive steel sprockets from rocky mountain, they are cheap and bullet proof. as far as a chain ive had good luck with a DID ERT2 chain, I have gotten upto 3 seasons on one the sprockets go before it does.... yea I know your supposed to change the sprocket and chain together but when there is nothing wrong with the chain Im not spending the $$$ to replace it.

Thanks, Rockymtn has some good prices on just about everything.
So, stay away from the aluminum? I was thinking steel also. What about the chain?
I don't need an oring or xring right? By the way, what the hell is an xring anyway?

Yea you do.... O-ring chains last nearly forever, and are near zero maintenance....much like the 500

The different between a o and a x?

o x

Image these shapes are between the links, the reduced cross section of the "X" has lower friction.

haha I slapped a cheapy non-oring off brand chain on my 500 just to make a ride and you can almost look down and watch it stretch while riding.
