relieve the downtube so that the Y will fit once relocated? Do you use a bit of some sort? Can you post a link to whatever you're using?
Thanks!

I didnt cut the downtube at all, I opened the Y "socket" with a die grinder.
I only beveled the bottom of the downtube to ease it into the socket.

I may do a combination of both as the Y came out pretty much complete. So, you're using a die grinder? Something like the one below? Sorry about the "DUH" questions but appreciate the help.

try to avoid the whisky throttle on those, i'd get a dial style flow controll for the airline, you can trim that grinder down to what you want to work with, if you arent cooling a bit by taking big chunks it'll just rub along, get hot and stick full of crap, so slow it down if you want to cut slow

When "grinding" aluminum with one of those bad dogs I dip my grinding bit into welding nozil anti spatter or spray works too. It keeps it from clogging.

I run that buttery kooltool gunk on hss, but on carbide i just let er howl, been using this one like i reccomended to robert almost a year now, thats probably twice my weight in grindings from head/intake porting and other aluminum hackings
seems like edelbrock and everybody else have got slack on holding the port dimensions and EVERY intake manifold needs to be portmatched
