Im having a hell of a time getting a good paddle tire for my 500.

i found and 18" 10 cup but the thing is HUGE and hits my linkage and swing arm. not to mention how heavy it is.

is trying to run an 8 paddle a waste of time on the 500?

should i stick with what i have or should i try a smaller 8 paddle?

its a debate that I normally avoid. a lot of guys on here get the viper 12 puck. I personally run an 8-puck turbo paddle. it sinks really far down, but hooks up really good once it sinks.

im assuming you have the 5.60 cheng shin, which is a piece of shit. buy a skattrak 10 or 12 or 14.

for rolling bowls, try to get something with ribs, likt the king turbo or skat intimidator the rib makes a big difference in rear end stability.

i haven't found a place where you can go buy a skattrack. i heard you have to send them a worn out tire first.

i ran the ams 10 cup it was ok.. i have never ran an 8 cup on the 500 just for the reasons danny states all it does is dig deeep then hook a strange feeling that i wouldnt care for. I opted for a 12 cup skat trak viper from GSS and am loving it.. IT is lighter than the ams at least it feels lighter. I didnt put it on a scale. They use the 5.6 wide carcass when they make them so its a nice wide paddle with lots of bite and thats what i wanted.. :D

I dont know what works in california dunes, but on oregon sand I was very pleased with the 10 scoop skat trak hooker i had. 8 paddles just dont cut it... and 12's are typicaly a bit much for bikes without heavy modifications. the paddles with the center rib might add stability, but they are heavy like most molded tires and everone i know ended up cutting off most of the rib so it didnt block the scoops

I had a 12 viper made out of a 120/19 maxxis IT, its light and hooks awsome.

Ive ran a 10 chen shin 5.6 and it was junk, just like a lead ballon, I ran an AMS sandsnake 10 which I really liked for a moulded tire (IMO the best budget dune tire) and I ran a chen sin 8 cup for about 15 mins which was by far the worst.

Ive got a 14 cup viper on a 120/19 maxxis IT that I run on the nitrous bike that flat HOOKS (even with the extensions)

I realy feel it depends on what your trying to do with it. I dont think that there is a best paddle tire for everything, just a compromise.

I have a stock port timing 500 with just bolt on items and the head cut correctly and I run a Skat Trak hooker 12 paddle at the Oregon coast with no problems. Best tire I have tried. Tracks good and straight, corners well and I would never have any less paddles and molded paddle again.

I hear that a 6 paddle will help keep the revs up since the 500 bogs down so much in suger sand, is that true?

   and raditor hoses and duct tape make great intake boots for riding in such sugar sand!
