Air filter question

Gonna order a couple of new filters for my ride. I used the stock 03-04 CRF450R air box and filter set up for my build. Seems most if the after market brands have the back fire screen laminated to the inside of the filter, which mine being the 2 smoker I don't want it. I have heard the comparable year CR125-250's use the same filter minus the back fire screen.
Is this true?
