I was wondering if a guy could use a gen 4 tank and shrouds on a gen 3 bike? I like the sharper look of the gen 4 shrouds + it would look newer.

I think a better question is, is it possible to fit the Gen3 tank and shrouds onto the Gen4 for better tank / spark plug and water outlet clearance.
Then there would be no need to modify the gas tank.

I reckon if the gen 4 stuff fits go for it......I think it looks pretty sharp to.

gen3 wont fit on gen 4 and the other way arround
the gen3 tank hangs over the sub mount and shock mount, directly in the way when trying to use it on a gen4, and it would be 1/2" or more too wide. we looked at this lastwinter for nicks gen4 +my gen3

Just use 07 cr250r plastic, it is as modern as you will find and it bolts on every 250r since 02.

Hmm...Is the 250 stuff different from the 450 stuff? It looks like the 450 gen 4 shroud bolts differently along the top compaired to the gen 3. I will have to look into that.

250 is always gen3, 450 gen 3 pastics are the same, also gen3 125, theres no gen4 250 or 125, gen 4 450 is the white you have pictured, other colors but swapping wont work

Ok, gotcha. After reading it again and more carefully he said CR250R (2-stroke) is the same as the gen 3 CRF plastics. At any rate I don't care for the gen 3 shrouds so thats why the thread got started. I guess its a no-go, so I will look into buying a gen 4 bike.

I was just wondering because I can pickup several different gen 3 (4 strokes) for next to nothing, but I will keep looking for a '05 or newer gen 4.
