I am into a project waiting for the tubing from Roosty, Thanks Roosty, and mocking up the frame. I have the frame cut, I had to notch the down tube to get the Y back in, I'll post pictures later...

Question has anyone had to notch the frame on the lowest bolt just below the kick start to get the 500 motor to sit down into the crf250 frame? How much did you notch the frame if so?

I already shave he weld down and it's close! But seeing pictures of other's, they seem to sit farther down. Maybe it's just me....

Again I'll post pictures hopefully tonight of the project so far.

Look at my build thread.... I didnt notch the lower tube at all.... Just smoothed it as you described.

Remember, the more you roll the motor over, the funkier the pipe is going to fit.

I let the OEM 500 pipe determin where the motor was going to "clock" in at.

Worked out well...

Good idea with the pipe, Thanks Bob! What spacers did you end up with in that 2004 crf250 build for the motor/swing arm? The stock one on the right seems good, you had posted 51/52mm L/R in an earlier post and also that the stock one looked good, where did you end up? I liked your build so much that I am following it closely with some twists for my own flavor.

why not space the bushes and then you can use the stock swingarm bearing sleeves
