yeah, I know... Its just a matter of not having the cash available... my question is, if I like the fox v3, which is normally $375 and I get it for $187 vs the $600+ for the arai, will the arai protect my head any better? they use the same materials. Like I noticed the fox v1 is junk and compares to the $100 hjc and htt, but the v3 uses all the fancy materials like the shoei and arai and shark. My thinking now though is I really want to update all of my gear and get a neck brace, the cost or an arai will allow me only to buy a helmet at this time...
so arai or fox v3+neck brace?

Danny, I'm in the same boat. I wasted my TLD. So I'm in the market.
I agree on the fit and feel.
The Arai seems to have a smaller chin bar which should make it more brace friendly, maybe not. Haven't tried a Fox so I can't comment.

I'm thinking of forgoing the fancy paint and going solid.

Real happy with my Shift. A bit uncomfortable to put on, but very very comfy for long rides.

Helmets are sacrificial. You are supposed to replace after any significant hit. I find that difficult to do when I've paid $300+ for it. So, I buy the $150 units. Just gotta find one that fits yer noggin well. They will all do their job for the one hit they were designed for.

I ride street bike, once you go arai you dont go back on a street bike.

I broke my other crappy dirt bike helmet, so I ordered up an arai helmet (dirt bike). I love it. Its alot of money for a dirt bike helmet tho.

For the street I wear a Shark RSR2.......most comfortable street helmet Ive ever owned....super plush, great venting. I ride a 2006 Honda CBR1000 w/ an Akrapovic pipe and the Shark is extremely quiet. I havnt tried any Arai's yet.

yeah, I know a guy who knows a guy which is how I got a powercommander eneve though I was only looking for a helmet. I guess the helmet was harder to hide

the fox helmet is bitchen, came with some extras too, like an extra sun visor and hardware and a super fancy bag with a zipper and handles all paded, shit man, I think the helmet bag was worth what I paid for the helmet. super comfy and has tons of fancy features my old answer didn't, like the padded peices covering the chin straps. If I have that I wouldn't have needed stitches that one time.
anyway, I'll be taking the helmet out for the first ride this weekend.

I have a riding buddy that was the fox distributor on new england. He mentioned wanting his arai regularlly and his SG12 boots. He had to wear fox stuff. He's not with them anymore, For stuff is now extras and arai back on with SG12's.

I'm pretty happy with my shoei's
