sourced some cheap chain and sprockets off ebay($80). 520 oring chain 14/49 sprockets. when i took off my old chain, i noticed how much lighter and thinner it was.i never thought there would be much in it.but it was a no name chain but weighed in over 300gms lighter than the new replacement chain. so which manufacturer makes the better chain. something light weight and durable?

thanks guys.are those chains quality material lightweight 520 running gear or just a smaller lighter grade chain that will wear out quicker? i couldn find that shit on ebay. so im gonna have to trek down to the bike shop and see how much they wanna shaft me for them. im building up a sweet bike atm. so i guess its worth finishing it off with a nice(but expensive)drive train.ill flog that cheap chain off to my mate that needs one for his xr400.

Iron Man sprockets will last a good rider about a year and the DID ERT2 is a light weight 520 chain that has like 8,000 tensile strength, IMO they last forever I use them on all my bikes, they are quite blingin'

It depends on where you ride. If you ride in mud, ANY regular stainless steel or hardened steel sprocket will last just as long as an Ironman, but be about 1/3 the cost. Plus, the Ironman WILL rust. And who cares about weight savings when you're lugging around an extra 40lbs of mud anyways..

Same for chains. Wet environment=1 chain a year. Doesn't matter who makes it.

If you want to bling... get the expensive crap!

Forget about the aluminum sprockets, you can hook one of those in an hour.
