Because if everyone "just walks away" when their lawful rights are violated, we'll soon live in a dictatorship. And - practically - they weren't given adequate time to respond. Civil rights suit waiting to happen.

Good point. And I think your right, But I think most of the people there knew what was going on and it was in their best interest do disburse.
