Competitive Edge MX 8/16

Post by hoofarted »

Met up with Brit, FZ1426 (I think!) and a friend of mine around 8:30-9ish at CeMX in Hesperia. First time there so I wasn't too sure what to expect. Track was much more open that Racetown 395 - where I have been to many times in the past. Weather was uncharacteristic of August. 70's-80's till I left - which made for good riding conditions. It woulda been better if I wasnt so far outta shape! Kicked my ass pretty good! Although my 16YO continued on relentlessly! Brit did well - didn't eat shit as far as I could tell. Only problem was mechanical. Hillside track was fun - but started to get rutted out. National track was a tad more difficult especially when dog-tired. Have some helmet cam footage as well...will edit and post up later. But for now, enjoy the a sneak peek:

Here's some video footage...

I had a great time even though I suck, by the 6-7th time around the track I was getting faster and more comfortable, if the weather was cooler I might have cleared some small stuff before the day was done :D :D

Way better than RT395. We'll def. have to set up another ride later on. Holy shit, I dunno about you, but I am fuckin sore! Man, I need to get on the fitness regimen to hang a little longer next time! All in all, was a fun time for sure.

Sounds like a fun place, especially with all of you guys there. I went to Golden Acorn out here where I live, its about an hour east of San Diego. We should setup a Pala day if you guys are interested, its supposed to be a fun track and extremely well groomed and watered.

No need to be embarressed it happens to all of us. Think your sore now wait til tomorrow usually its worse.

My upper legs were sore until friday last time and I'm like wtf, theres no whoop section, well a few rollers, a fair amount of jumps. It got a little rough towards the end of the day but the 4 minutes lap times is long for a main track in these parts.

Anyway you guys figure out which day, the 30th or the 6th.

It was pretty cool considering I didn't even know these guys were going that day.

Brit, your shock is probably fine now that you got the preload nut down into some good threads. Just clean up the threads and snug up the lock nut. Your sag actually looked about right after you got done with it. But go easy with the hammer next time!

I'm pretty happy with my new top end and overall set up on the steelie. Just prior to my last moto I leaned the idle and fuel screw just a tad and it was about as good as it gets. Still hard as fuck to ride though compared to a four stroke.

Cooler weather is just around the corner. I'm totally down for another Sunday get together with a bunch of hoons. Comp Edge is a pretty good place to flog a 500. All the really fast guys go there during the week, so Sundays generally aren't that crowded.

If I remember Ryan Cepeck was going to "rent" the track for the day.

That would be cool to have the whole track just for friends and family of bannedcr500riders.com day.

I think it's cheap but it's during the week.

Ya me too.

http://www.ridecemx.com/

909-456-1070 Don't know what it takes for them to answer the phone cause its a recording. I've heard in the past with other tracks thats its $1200 for the day. That could be a 100 each and no one flaking.

Perhaps a better idea is pick a friday. Most get there early and leave about 12 noon. When I was there the sunday before last maybe 5 poeple on the track and three or four of them were just hitting the two jumps on the north side.
