Hello people, just an intro to let you know what kind of 'Crazy' you're dealing with (grin). I raced a 74 125 Elsinor in high school and after graduating (class of 75, Woo Hoo!!) went to AMI (American Motorcycle Institute) in Datona Beach. After graduating, I bought a DT 400b yamaha to get around on. 5 months later I was center punched by a 75 y/o guy in a station wagon. After a total of 6 months in the hospital and 2 yrs in a full leg cast my bike riding days were put on hold...(good reason to take up hang gliding:) until now! Being 52 now my enthusiasm (spelling? shrug) isn't quite what it was @ 18 but none the less, its still there. I live in SE Washington St. with gobs of area to ride and just aquired an 86 Cr 500. For an 86 it's in pretty good shape even with the normal wear a tear common with any dirt bike. Piston was a little loose so I had it bored and installed a Pro x piston for the top end. Thought I'd get some ride time in before digging into the bottom end. Problem now is I'm not getting any spark. So much for de-flowering my new toy (or it me). Before I start posting a bunch of questions on the matter I'll do some rootin around and see what I can find on it.

Glad to be part of the group!

Welcome x2!

...and were u getting spark before the tear down? I'd check all connections 1st. Disconnect your kill switch to make sure it isn't grounding out...
