I could not find info for the 2001 CR500 so I used the 2000 CR500 info.
It is the same bike so this should work.
The front wheel on the 99 CR250 shares all the same part numbers with the 01 CR500, to do with the front hub.
So the short answer is YES it will fit.
The rear set up is a little different in the part numbers but it will fit.
The rear axle has a diff part number but still uses the same bearing, means it has same DIAMETER, also uses the same dust seals.
The hub sub assy part number is the same on both as well.
The only real diff is the side collars are diff part number for some reason, which could be a number of reasons.
They both use the same distance collar as well.
The axle may be longer which explains the diff part number.
The side collars use same size dia axle, and the same dust seals.
I would say YOU ARE GOOD TO GO.
You may just have to get 01 CR500 side collars.
GOOD LUCK MAN.
OH SIMPLE ANSWER TO WHOLE QUESTION IS YES!

YES. the brake rotor is larger, but you can just put a 500 rotor on it.
basically same hub, but its a 19 and a larger rotor.

We must help anyone who tries to keep the CR500 alive and kicking.
Thanks Danny, did not know 99 CR250 had the larger rotor.
What year did Honda start using the larger rotors and on what bikes.
