I say start flying those things instead of drones.
Fly them at low altitudes and those dumbass's will shoot high
and never hit it do to aiming high.
That will scare anybody knowing what they can do.

I saw the real deal when I was a kid at an airshow...Either March or Norton AFB - cant recall which. I can still remember the ground shake when the pilot flew over and hit the afterburners.

Not that any of you would ever come to Kansas, but here is a link to the Kansas Cosmosphere where there is an actual SR-71 on display. You can stand right next to it and touch it. Pretty cool and the place has a bunch of NASA space stuff on display too.
I went to edwards AFB in high school w/ my aviation class and they had 2 on display, I got yelled at for climbing up the landing gear and checking out the insides. those wiring harnesses reminded my of ghetto network rack nightmares, the wiring looked terrible, I'm surprised they didn't catch fire. They said the would have let us sit in the cockpit, but they stole the seats out of them to put in U2s
I almost cried when I heard that. when clinton cut funding in '98 they started scrapping sr71s for parts

17961 is the plane on display. Assembly of this aircraft started on 13 January 1965 and it rolled out on 19 October 1965. The first and last flights of #961 are on 13 April 1966 and 2 February 1977, respectively. During this time, SR-71A #961 logged a total of 1,601 hours. Its one of the "Babies" of the fleet at the time she was retired.
"961" ended her flying career early. After the Pentagon ordered the destruction of all Blackbird tooling in February 1970, the Air Force had no choice but to cannibalize certain airframes in order to provide parts for the rest of the fleet. 961 ended her flying career early as a result.
She lives on in alot of the other airframes.
One of the more famous photo's releasted for distribution, are of her...
She was a proud bird....

talking about scrapping sr71s makes me sad... like my dog just died or something

Think about it , she was scrapped in 1977, they flew until 1999.
22 years, on canonabilized parts.
The mechanics were miricle workers sometimes...... no 2 SR-71's were exactly alike.

ya... they ran 4 decades... but it still sucks when something badass has to die why do cool things always get replaced with mediocre things? What is the deal with mediocrity??
sr71=badass, U2=mediocre
cr500=badass, crf450=mediocre
69camaro ss=badass, every car from the '70s=suck ass
mid '90 6 cylinder turbo imports=badass, scion=well, you get the picture
why does everything badass have to die?

I was there the day the one at the Cosmosphere rolled down the street to where it is displayed today and have seen it many times since. I am still struck by how large it is and how tiny the cockpit area is. It's pretty crude looking by today's standards.

The Cosmosphere's Blackbird #961
Home base for the Blackbirds was Beale Air Force Base in northern California. Missions were also dispatched from the RAF Mildenhall in England and Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. It was in Okinawa that crew members gave the SR-71 the nickname "Habu," which is a black, poisonous snake native to Okinawa.
According to recently declassified military records, the Cosmospere's plane, #961, spent most of its life flying out of Kadena surveying such places as Vietnam, China and Laos. Plane #961 was last flown on February 2, 1977. It ended active service with 1,600 hours on its airframe. This plane was at Beale AFB in active storage (which means it could have been pulled out for flight at any time) from 1978 until it came to the Cosmosphere in 1995. It is unclear why #961 was taken out of service.
The control panel, stability augmentation system, tire and ejection seat on display are all original components of Blackbird #961.

Says the one who's backdoor is Area 51.
And Russia has the largest Known Titaium deposits/mine, Ironicly I saw some charts showing there planes using only 10% Ti compared to ours. Commercial and Military.
There is also a BB on a Pylon in front of the Air Museum / Balboa, San Deigo, just south of the Zoo. You can still see the fuel leaks.
