clutch issues?

my 87 cr250 is having clutch issues. i have replaced the cable and everything internally except the basket and inner hub, pressure plate. its isnt slipping, its almost like the clutch discs are too thick. i thought i had the wrong cable but the new one was identical. i took the hub to basket spacer out and milled it down, which worked for a while, but now its starting to do it again. HELP!

check the lenght of the clutch actuator rod i had a bike that milled the end down about 4mm and i lost clutch like that

I thought that might be it so I replaced the rod the steel ball and the tip, as well as the arm and it didn't help. this thing is driving me crazy. I have the cable completely adjusted out and it still has play.

Is your basket and hub notched? Usually this happens and causes the plates to sit in the notches and screw up the adjustment.
