mystery diagnosis

so i'm camping at the hillclimb saturday night and get txts something like this:
"hey, runnin good, but #7 had no tip on plug when i came in, changed it and i start outside pole in the feature"
hour or so later i get this
"so something bigger than a plug is screwed, took the green and it died,no spark and it needs some sheetmetal now"
he brings it in yesterday morning, this is a drysump engine so it will have oil pressure and the only thing the cam gear is turning is the mag.
