SRA Grand Prix at Glen Helen 06-21-2009

Post by redrocket190 »

Not my helmet cam, but a good idea of the track layout. The video does not do justice to the fast bits nor the infamous Glen Helen hills. 7 months off the bike was not a good way to prepare, but I had a blast anyway. Raced the 40+ Seniors class and did not finish last, nor crash through any chain link fences, so it was a success compared to last time I rode. Despite zero prep from last November's Day in the Dirt, the bike started 3rd kick and ran like clockwork all day. It's not exactly novice-friendly to ride in the tight corners, but the straight bits make up for it.

Good for you Red. Thats one long lap.

Funny how the guy dumps it at the top of St Helen. Then the guy flying by going down, thats what makes that hill really fun, maybe cause thats where I've passed the most people.

Probably the course for this weekends 12 hour.

Nope we were doing the team race and he was in the wash top of fourth gear
and it started swapping ends and he went over the top and landed
on his left side and back. Completely wrecked helmet and chest protector.

It would have been worse if it were not good equipment.

Awsome vid he crashed about 7:50 on the vid he landed just before the water barriers crossing the road.

I was standing on the bridge on top of that guy and saw the whole thing.

What's your # and bike? I'll look out for you next time. Although for him it'll be like riding with a handicap, I'm going to do the team race next GP with #259 Tony Linehan.

Garrett Sargent #220 (my son) rides beg 250 honda.

That was my first race in over 20 years on a 650 honda. No number,
