FMF or PC with 2001 CR250 ignition, 250 or 500 coil?

Well I've been wrenching. Modded a spare 01 CR250 ignition. Now I gotta put on a pipe and coil. The frame on my gen 2 is set up for the 500 coil. I'd have to rig something to use the 250 coil but it wouldn't be too bad. I'm thinking that using the 250 coil would be the way to go to keep everything matched as they were designed to work together.
I'm guessing the PC pipe will work better with the 250 ignition as well for mx. Anyone done any testing? I'm running a "mo betta" port job/Boyesen RAD valve and a PowerNow PWK insert. It ran real strong with the stock ignition and the FMF, but the lack of rev was a problem at times.
Is there any reason to use a new metal gasket on the exhaust manifold?
