Darren here from Cincinnati O. Been lurkin' on this site for some time. I ride and dirt drag race a 89' 5. Been ridin since the early 80's. Started on the time tested xr80. Quickly moved to a Maico 440. Got hooked on the BIGBORE. Many bikes and quads in between. Fast forward to 2002, traded a 125trx for a near basket case 89 5. After several busted knuckles and many cases of beer, Ended up with a nice ride. 2005 converted it to a ATC500R for some drags. Last 2 months re-converted back to two wheels. Accept they are atv wheels...Hence the name. Anyway , been on the other site... This one seems more my speed. Enough about me..... FATTYFIVE.

Ever thought of turning the forks around so the axle is in the front like a bike? Did that to my 3 wheeler years ago, it did make a difference.

Got rear brake?

I do have a brake, that pic is 2 weeks old. I would turn the forks around , but then I'd lose some clearance and strech the front out. I also tried it out as this was my ATC500.

Travis, I live minutes from Milford. Have not weighed it yet, I will . Hoofarted, I do have a axle old RAD. Have complete rearend. Built this bike to be able to convert back to ATC in no time!

That is pretty sweet. How is it to ride? I would think the handling would be kinda rough. My cousins are Whitakers and are on the northern side of Milford. Jeff used to fix a few quads and sell them. You may know of him.

Haven't got to ride yet waiting on some swingarm bushings from the machinist. Cant wait to let her RIP. But after riding it as a ATC, dont think it will be to hard to adjust.

My Wife was going off on how gy it was and that there isn't anything you could do to it that would make it any less gay... then I told her about that car. She insists it is still gay
I think that car looks like a damn good time!

Been out in the woods twice now. First time out, only got 30 minutes in and the rear tire,which had a tube in it, twisted the tube and flat city. Second time out,rear tire problem fixed, the bike is a ROCKET. Could not find any space large enough to get out of 4th gear. Any gear ratio guru figure this out... 15 C.S. to 16 jackshaft to 14 on jack to 37 rear sprocket. As far as handling goes , it is pretty damn good. Tight woods was no problem, hill climbs were easily accomplished at damn near idle. And mud, as you might guess with the tire I have, no problemo. Now , Saturday night I went to a local dirt drag track and low and behold a 2005 SERVICE HONDA 500 parks next to me. First time I got to see a beer can 5 up close. Looked kinda sloppy to me but he said it was night and day in the handling department. Well onto the races. I entered 2 classes, 0-500cc motorcross style, working suspension and muffler, And OPEN BIKE KNOBBY TIRE. I got 2nd in both classes. So not to shabby,I beat the BEERCAN!!! But saddly got beat by a crf450 He just got out of the hole alot better. In the open class, I only got beat by a fellow on a custom GSXR1000. GOOD TIMES

Gear ratio, here goes.
15 C.S : 16 J.S - 14 J.S : 37 R.S
16 divided by 15 = 1.0666667 / 37 divided by 14 =2.6428571
1.0666667 X 2.6428571 =2.8190477
which is close to 15 C.S : 42 R.S = 2.8 turns to 1
15 C.S : 43 R.S = 2.8666667 turns to 1.
simply put your front sprocket is doing 2.8190477 turns to 1 turn of the rear sprocket.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Should work well with small diameter wheels.

Rear tire is 25" tall (and quickly getting smaller) on a 10" rim which doesn't matter. Cant seem to find room for 5th anywhere.

Diameter is greater than I thought, might pay to put larger rear sprocket on it .
Somewhere between a 40 - 45 should get you close to what you want.
If you can give me an idea how fast you want it to go, would help.
I could work out the same for a STD 500 if you like.
40T will give you a ratio of 3.0476191 : 1
45T will give 3.4285715 : 1
On a 500 with 14 CS X 48 RS will give 3.4285714
With your wheel slightly smaller in diameter than a 500 your top speed will be slightly slower than a 500.
That is a 45T on your wheel compared to 14 CS X 48 RS on a 500.
