Aftermarket Water Pump

Just woundering is there a aftermarket Water Punp I can Install on my 1995 CR500 Motor.
The way I look at it cooler it runs more power longer and longer motor life.

boyesen does NOT make one.
Not sure about anybody else.
I wish roostius would or someone would reverse engineer the CR250 boysen one and build one for the 500.

honestly i doubt a bigger pump would do any good, because the head gasket will only allow a certain amount to flow through, and you want the coolant to remain in the radiators for a certain period of time so it can cool properly. i dont think pushing the coolant through the system faster would accomplish anything positive. if you increased the capacity of the cooling system with bigger rads, then it would probly do some good. but i have to say, stock cooling system has worked good for me. i got to thinking as i was looking at that ktm i recently bought, i think it has reverse flow cooling system. instead of pulling the water down through the rads, it pushes the water up.....is that a goofy idea or what

. hell i dont know, maybe its a better idea because it takes the heat out of the head first

The stock setup with clean rads and a decent overflow bottle works perfect when rolling around goat trails at 2mph or hitting big shot of nitrous up long ass hills.
No need for a better pump.

That 30% of unburned fuel that goes out the tail pipe carries a lot of heat with it.
By nature a tuned big bore two stroke runs cool.

tuned right w/ clean rads a 500 should barely even blow out any overflow.

I found out mine has the CRF250 Radiators on it plus the single cooling hose to the head intake water port.
As most you know the TTM rollers use only one hose to the head for cooling.
If it starts to over heat I mite go with the Fuildine CRF450 Radtiators.
I seen some where they will make custom ones for you.

i dont know dude, ive always been skeptical of the one hose design. some have said it works ok, but i dont see it being as effiecient but i could be wrong. i was looking on my ktm, (which uses quit a bit bigger diameter hoses than cr500), it comes off the cylinder with one hose then goes into a "T" valve and splits off into 2 hoses and goes up to both rads. if nothing else, 2 hoses would give the whole cooling system a slightly larger capacity.

What KTM do you have I sold my 2006 KTM560 RSF to build this bike.

mines the 550 2stroke

. its out of comission at the moment for minor repairs, but gonna be a bad mofo when its running again. i love the honda 2strokes but i fully expect the 550 to stomp my cr500

I want to build a old school air-cooled 2 stroke bike my self before the power vavles like a old school 1979 thru 1981 CR 250/450 with the fire engine red motors kick starter on the left side chain on the right side, and drum brakes Lay down FOX air shocks.
Or a Old MAICO BREAK-O even a HUSKY I love those old bikes with the big cooling fins I grew up on them the Ring A Ding Ding of the Cooling Fins.

the old yz465/490 made ALOT of racket. if your looking for noise, cant go wrong with the yamaha

I had a 1979 250 & 1980 125 YZ there cool but not as cool in my book as the old lay down twin shock FOX Air shock bikes even the old RM's had that cool factor to them.
But I can say for it day the Old Mono's were the shit to have back then I had a 1982 If I remember right RM it handle great but fell apart around you.
I keep that old YZ 125 for many year it anouther Old bike I wiished I keeped with my Mini Honda Elsinore, DG Made bike that when they did bike back in the day.
It was a XR75 frame with a sleved down DG Honda Elsinore 125 motor to 100cc kit in it.
Handled like a box car on the dirt but it was trick in it's day and you always replacing the down pipe due to it always getting smashed up.

Thats Cool I had a 1974 when I was young that many years ago Ha Ha.
Most have no idea what a mini ELS is or was is that a DG or a FMF one.

I ran those rads on my gen-4 w/ a crf450 plastic Y and the smaller factory outlet and I've never had a bike run so cool. That was the only 500 I didn't run and overflow on. if you have cooling issues, it is not those rads.
also remember that the single inlet is larger... 3/4" vs under 5/8" x2, I bet if you do the math the flow isn't much different, but it does keep it going in on one side and out the other for better cooling efficiency.

I don't have the exact sizes, but assuming the small ones are 15mm and the large single is 20mm (I actually thing the large is larger and the small is smaller) but just for the heck of it, lets use those numbers. the surface area of a circle is exponential, so the wall thickness will also make a big difference, but even throwing that out
a 20mm circle has a surface area of 314mm while 2 15mm circles have a combined surface area of 353mm after figuring the actual size and wall thickness I'd put money down that they either flow the same ammount, or the larger one flows more than the 2 smaller ones.

Thanks I get my motor This Thursday Yea It about time.
It has a port job on it just a port clean up not much.
My cheep donner $350.00 bike what I started with was more trashed than most of us though it was I been better off now buying a nicer one to start with the old motor was JUNK new cases new trany all new bearing and seal rebuilt crank and top end Ouch.
But at lerast I made some money selling the other parts on E-Bay to help pay for the NEW motor after all.
