Going rate for an 03' CR250

Post by MojoScojo »

Any clues?

This look worth $2600 to any of you?

Seat, plates and airbox have been butchered.

How about $1200 for this?

Went and looked at it.

Dude had like 12 bikes of all different kinds in his garage.

"Perfect Condition" my ass.

Airbox needs replaced. $40
Seat needs replaced. $120
Number plates need replaced. $40 Ea.
Shock bearings were BAD. A solid 1/2" of play at rear axle. $200 for full set of OEM rear suspension bearings.
Front brake pads were gone. $40
Front rotor glazed. $60
Needs tires. $140
"Bike still has original front tire on it." -um...yup. And it should have been replaced a LONG time ago.
Pipe is bashed. $50 to repair.

Otherwise, it looked pretty clean. It's obviously been used, but I doubt it's been abused.

I'm thinkin closer to $1800 than $2600 considering it needs almost $800 in parts.

Seemed to run good, despite the multiple dents in the pipe. I think I'll let him sit on it for awhile.

Guess I'll keep looking...

I would be really carefull buying a used freestyle bike. If it was a guy just starting out I gaurantee that thing has been down hard a few times.

From what Jerry (the guy that did my AF) said the 450's have alot more room in the engine cradle then the 250's do.

My guess is the reason he wants 2600 is because it's an 03. Alot of 03's are trying to be sold for between 22 and 28 hundred from what I have seen lately. But when you consider the use, and condition of some of them, like that one, sellers should expect around 2000 imo. Now really clean 03's that have hardly been riden, and are garage queens, are worth between 22 and 28 hundred imo. That one has been riden alot, and jumped high and far most likely, so I would stay clear of it entirely. Unless dude does go to 2000, then it's worth thinking about. I saw a nice clean one for 1300 3 months ago, but that was a desperate seller situation and it was gone imediately.
Don't Clyde it, ride it!
