just bought a roller today and going to bring the 500 out of hibernation for the last two years.
I've been reading and learning from this site for awhile now and im really going to be leaning on you guys for the next few months. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

the 500 motor basically slides right into any year cr250 chassis. 450 is more difficult in every aspect. hows that for help

1.the roller doesn't have rads so which ones should i look to get?
2. what do you guys recommed for the motor mounts?
3. does anyone know from experience what shims i will need for the swingarm? Im not sure because im not sure If my roller is a Gen 3 Or a Gen 3 CRF is there a difference when the lingo on here? I know the frames are made different just not sure on the wording.

no washers
is that sound right?

You got the bushings right. As for washers, you don't use any but you keep the aluminum collars in between frame and swingarm both sides.
They look like thick aluminum washers.
As for the rads, I haven't got that far yet, but I'm going to try and keep the stock 450 ones.

Worked on my 03 450 frame

Let me know if you get stuck on anything...
I used one stock 03 450 rad for the left and a 01 CR250 rad on the right, both required modding the spouts, but had I got the 250 left it would have worked with out any modiding... But I had already got the left before I hit that point on my build and it was brand new so I used it!

I would stay away from them myself; being Chinese crap and all, but they will work with some spout mods.
Find you a OEM for good quality after market set.
Here is my 01 CR250 (right) and 02-04 CRF450 (left) radiators, before being modified.
Here are a couple of shots after modifying the crossovers, I cut and turned the lower left spout from the 5 o'clock postion (stock) to about 2 o'clock. On the right I had the stock side cross over capped and then added a spout off a bent/broken rad to the back side face of the bottom tank, bottom pump spout was fine where it was. I have zero heat issues, even on 100 degree days with midwest humidity!!!
Keep up the hard work and it will look like this one day!!

what type of metal stock should i be looking for? What is the best stuff?

6061 T6. I'm about to place my 3rd order from onlinemetals.com.
Their online ordering is super easy and small orders are no problem.
There is a custom cut fee if you want an exact length. Standard cuts are 1 foot, so I just order 12" lengths of everythng.

Very nice! Guess thats one good thing about the 4 strokes. You can pick them up pretty cheap after they blow the hell up! If you would after you get it. Find out what brand the tank is and post some pictures without the shrouds around the lower front of the tank area. I will be adding a larger tank to mine in the future and would like to see what areas of space NOT to place any ignition items.
