Seized Swingarm Bolt

I was tearing the donor bike down tonight, everything was going smooth until I go to remove the swingarm bolt. The SOB will not budge!!! Decided I would quit for the night before I screwed something on me or the bike up. Sprayed it down with wd40 and going to let it sit until tomorrow afternoon. Once I do get it to move, i'm going to have to tap it back in and clean up the mushroomed end before driving it out.
Any suggestions?

Try a product called Kroil, its an anti seize oil, it helped me get a really stuck drain bolt out

If you pound it too hard, it will expand like a rivet.... and be a REAL bitch to get out.

I just went out and layed the bike on its left side and sprayed the shit out of it . Thought maybe the oil might travel down the bolt better that way.
Problem is, your real limited on spots to spray.
Yeah Bob, I already got the end all F ed up. Going to have to try and clean that up with a dremal so it will pass thru the bushings. I just got to get the damn thing to break free first.

I found the link, also if you do use it let it soak overnight before tinkering with the bolt

Okay, I woke up with a swollen left thumb that won't bend after knocking the shit out of it last night but came up with a game plan. First and most common choice for these kind of problems. GET A BIGGER HAMMER!
I'm going to turn a couple of better drift punches today. What I was using is what i've always used is a old swingarm bolt. Stop and get some penetrating oil since I emptied the partial can of wd40 that was all I had on hand. I'm going to beat on the threaded end some more since it is already screwed. If I can just get it to break loose, i'll then drill the other side of the bolt with a slightly larger than the bolt drill bit. This should remove the rectangle head of the bolt and allow me to punch it out from that side. I think that will be easier than trying to clean up the screwed up end of the bolt.
I am still open to suggestions if someone has a better solution. It just burns my ass when a 30 second task turns into something like this and you always wonder what the fucking is going to be when everything seems to be going almost too easy.

Yeah, I know! I'm kinda keeping that option as a last resort!

I'm talking about the middle.
It its frozen in the case bushings, but free on the side your driving it from.... It will expand just outside of the bushings.
I've seen guys who had to sawzall the swingarm off, to get access to the stuck part.
DO NOT NEGLECT MAINTENANCE OF THE SWINGARM BOLT!!

With out question! Your motor maybe rock solid and you never have to pull it. This problem here should be reason enough to at least service those swingarm bearings annually so you can pull this bolt and grease or use some antiseize on it.

how long you figure it takes for a swingarm bolt to seize ? 8-10 years ? thats a long time to not grease your bearings

I don't know, but I would think more than a couple of years but that probably also depends on the enviroment the bike is operated. Yes I would also agree if its seized then the bearings have been neglected.

ill take a photo of some bearings i pulled out of a used swingarm i purchased from a member on the other board , i wont say his name but he reminds me of a used car salesman......say anything to sell your crappy worn out product

. lets just say they werent bearings any more, but more like a solid chunk of rust. he claimed they were fine before i purchased it, amazingly somehow he manages to tie his shoes every morning

With all the visibility and disclosure around here lately, is there any reason to keep anyone in the dark about any transaction?

when i recieved the swingarm it was dead of winter, so i wasnt to thrilled about doing any wrenching on my bikes in 20 degree weather. i briefly opened the box to make sure it was infact a swingarm and not a box of rocks, then i put it the corner and forgot about it for a long time. i was under the assumtion everything was cool because the emails said the bearings were in useable shape. months later, when i got around to haveing a look at it, i noticed i would need a wire wheel to grind the rust from the bearings

. i should of said something but i didnt because so much time had passed and i didnt want accusations that i fabricated the story. ill get new bearings and make it work

WooHoo!!! I got it to move. I used what is called Blaster PB penetrating catalyst. Got it at Home Depot. I had the bike on its side spraying in between swingarm and motor bushings. Let it sit 5-10 minutes giving a few taps on the bolt. Turned bike on the otherside and repeated. I did that about 5 cycles and finally got it to move. Drove it back in and cleaned up mushroomed threads with a small rotary file on a drill. I left it with the threads driven inside the frame and came in for supper.
Any tips for pulling the motor? It looks like you have to lift up the back and pull towards the rear since the front hits on the right motor mount.
Whats the proper motion?
