Our dog "Boston", who would have been 11 in September, passed away yesterday as we were rushing him from the local vet to a specialist.

He tried to get in my wife's lap but she was driving so he laid back down in the passenger seat and stopped breathing. I tried to revive him but couldn't and he was confirmed gone at the specialist office. He now rests in our back yard in a spot that he loved to go to.

My wife and children have coped pretty well but, to be honest, I am completely heartbroken.

That always sucks. Sorry to hear.

Sorry to hear man. We lost our beloved German Shepard a couple of years ago. Might as well have been a person. Hang in there.

We had one that was our" best friend "that was with us from the time one of my daughters was in kindergarden to well past her graduation from high school. Grown men DO cry!

Boston was with us from the time my son was four then we got our female Boston terrier four years ago. I don't know, I might get another one one day but, for now, we'll see how LuLu does and go from there.

My buddy lost one of his dogs awhile back and the other went down hill pretty quick. We'll definitely keep our eye out for that.

That's very true. We were just talking about, the happy to see you part, the other day. Used to be I'd come home to a chorus of "Daddy's home!", now it's like "Oh, Dad's home ".

Now, the dogs, they always meet me at the front door.

Our pets grw up, develop personalities of their own and seem more like children....true family members.

My wife named our daschund Nikki, for the daughter we never had. It's a weenie's nature to kling to its "parents". She was the shop dog....had to be with me every minute of the day, spent countless hours in bed watching TV w/my wife and generally sitting on top of one of us at all times.
We spoke to her as if she was a person....and amazingly could understand everything. Truly a better child than our real children.

After 15+ years it's hard to swallow your heart and bear the burden.
You'll feel better after a while, it just takes time.

Yeah, 11 years is a good run and the Boston Terrier is known to live about that long. To me, it just sucks that we didn't get him to the specialist or, for that matter, take him there first, but we had no way of knowing. I just wish he would have had more of a chance but nothing can be done now.

my mom has our dog squirt she is 14 going on 15 and we dont think she is gonna make it much longer. 3/4 of the way blind cant move she knows when i come back home to visit. It just perks her back up.. Its definatley going to be sad to see her go. She always slept in my room on the foot of my bed.

Our current puppy is like mine and my wifes daughter. She is 25lbs of pure spoiled pain in the ass

My wife and I have talked alot about the fact that Boston took that burden (having to put him to sleep) from us and that is really a blessing. That would have to be incredibly hard. He just quietly layed down and passed away. My heart goes out to all that had to make that choice.

Sorry dude Mega bummer, no one wants to lose their best mate.
We have a chocolate Labrador, had him for 3 half years so far and its going to hurt like hell when we lose him.
