I saw this ad :

Anybody know why someone would put an '03 CR250 triples and forks on an '01 CR500? Is there any difference in the forks? I'm going to check this one out and may buy it if it looks good. Still trying to figure out how OK is only 176 miles from Galveston when the north side of Dallas is 230 miles? (This is what the TT mileage thing under their classifieds says).

The '03 CR250 forks are the twin chamber Showa's...

One chamber for the damping oil

One chamber for the lubrication oil.

The damping oil stays cleaner, no debris to muck it all up.

Sounds like a good upgrade to me!

Thanks Bob. I spoke with the guy and it really sounds like a great deal with all of the extras he's offering and it has a title. Think I'm going to pull some cash and make a trip to Oklahoma tomorrow.

Going to OKC tomorrow to look at it and buy it if it looks as good as the photos. 7+ hours one way but looks worth it:

He said he had replaced the rear wheel bearings - wonder if that has something to do with it?

Thanks for the reference. That must be an impressive ATS they put on those LEs. You know those bikes have been known to align the planets, bring world peace, and cure cancer.

$2500 - I think I got a reasonable deal. Wouldn't say great; but definitely not bad. I needs some exterior cleanup but the internals seem fine. Pulls strong in all gears. I'll have to go through it just to make sure what I have. All of the rear linkage has new bearings and there's no slop. I'll get some before and after pictures going. Only problem was making that 14 + hour drive. Just got home 20 minutes ago. (4:00 am here).
