has anyone here tried the Kenda K772 Carlsbad Hard Terrain
tire ? i run on alot of hard pack and gravel roads with a little soft stuff mixed in. my problem is if i choose a medium terrain tire i eat it up quick on the hard pack and i love the grip of the soft rubber tires but they chunk apart in the rocks . i have always steered away from the hard terrrain tires in fear they will dump me in the soft stuff. what do you guys think should i just bite the bullet and try one or do you have a tire you like better for hard pack mix?

I've used the Kenda Carlsbad (rear). It seems to be holding up all right, but with these 500's, they will just chew up any tire when you ride on anything firmer than sand.

Nice thing about the Kenda's is they are usually not quite as expensive as Dunlops etc etc

The Carlsbad wont chunk off. It'll just "wear" off.

I rode a Kenda Millville (their Intermediate tire) on some hardpack for just a little bit, and it started tearing little pieces off the leading edge of the knobs. that was a mistake.

As far as the Carlsbad handling the sand, it would probably be ok; you'll just get more wheelspin due to the knob pattern not being designed for that.

I have heard nothin bad about Maxxis or Pirreli. They both have long lasting tread. Pirreli has odd combos like mid0soft to hard for one and mid-hard to soft for another. Check them out.
