Dove Springs Long lead time. Still ON!!!

Maybe first weekend in October or weekend after Labor day?

After a coworker went three weeks ago I'm kind of Jones-in to do this.

Looking to camp on trail SC120. That puts us closer to Mcivers cabin the forest and trail SC102 that most of us have been on.

Here's the link to the map-> http://www.blm.gov/ca/pdfs/ridgecrest_p ... il_map.pdf
SC120 is north of Dove Springs and the dirt road to there is cool for the big RVs as Aqueduct road is followed

and a link from Glamisdunes Dove Springs ride. that has several pics of the cabin and mines. 13 pages @ 50 posts a page, most of planning there ride in March and Memorial weekend.

A few snap shots from Google Earth; Click on them for larger size.

The camp spot, it says Bird Spring Canyon Rd. but its the same as SC120

Closer in, looks like a place that maybe out of the wind if any,

Then the road coming in, turn right about a mile off of Hwy 14, (first main road) you should be on the main LA aquaduct road. Clear the camps, then step into it 40-50+ no problem.

We'll be a good five miles from the main DS area so bring it. I think I have a box of mortors left. But were near the main road so keep an eye on the headlights coming our way.

Its the same distance to Glamis for me, being in Rancho he gets a break, unless he doesn't go to Glamis.

Stopping in Pahrump to get more? I might if funds are availible as I will be in Vegas the week before. Those Magic Crystals are pretty cool, most people start laughing after a couple are launched, Now if they only just blew up at the end.

Thanks, were driving the wifes car, but if the AC goes out....
Last time the Altenator went out. Wouldn't you know it, I didn't bring any tools :bonk: But the guy at the local autozone helped with the torqs bolts and I bought a wrench set, three hours later I was done.
Now why do they put a GM Alt in a Toyota? I thought Toyota, Ford and Lexus were married. Wait thats a threesome  Never mind.

Typical as they are they only last about 120K.

.

GM buys old toyota stuff (hybrid tech, parts and the motors for the saturns)

Ford is in bed with nissan and buys old hybrid stuff from toyota

Chrysler uses old mercedes stuff

Nissan uses renault and peugeot designers

They are all buying and selling from eachother lol.

4 hours or so. Dove Springs is loamy whooped out desert...good stuff. Dove Springs, Red Rock and Jawbone should be considered one big riding area. Red Rock and Dove Springs are about the same, if you like hills that will make you go estrogen or hairier trails, go to the Jawbone side. Its mostly loose dirt/loam in there. The CR500 with an M5B on the rear and an Maxxis SI on the front will rule the roost out there.

The 15 to Barstow, pick up Brit, then the 58 to Cal city. Then North to the 14. Make a Right to Dove Springs turn off on left. About 6-8 miles.

You can take 395 through Randsburg but you end up at the same place at the 14. Turn Right.
