				39 vs 41

My old 85 pj is on it's last legs- the slide is worn and I can't get it to do the main jet right without having the 1/4 - 3/4 too rich. My bike seems to use way to much gas and I am sick of the blubbery carburation.
I am going to order a new pwk from sudco- what are the pros and cons of the 41 vs 39? Even though I desert race 99% of the time I am not WOT and I would like to have the bike running fine when it is cracked.
I am thinking just to get a 39 for the following-
easier to tune because people have more experience with them
less expensive
better partial throttle performance
What do you guys think? I am at 5,000 feet-

39 is a 41. sudco has local shop bore them out. if 41 is only slightly more money i would get that one, or save the money and get the 39

WFO is the main, 1/4 to 3/4 is the needle.... Two separate circuits.
I can get you the 39mm, for about $165 brand new, I think the 41mm is about $50 more.
I have the 41, and love it. The 39 is a sweet deal, and is about the best bang for the buck you can make.
Your choice, but until you understand the tuning more, both these carbs will behave like your PJ is now.

I have posted several time, in different threads, that John from Sudco is partial to our website members, and if you ask for the " Banned Discount", he will deliver some pretty good pricing.....

any machine shop will bore a carb for $50. seems like loomis told me he charges $45. i dont see why sudco would charge $110 more just for a bore job

sudcos new 41.5 isn't bored, but made that way by keihin, so the bore is properly tapered.

Easy enough to bore if you have access to a lathe.

ya i know its easy enough to bore them. danny was saying theres a new pwk carb thats 41.5 before its bored, after its bored would be around 43.5 and i was wondering if there is in fact a new carb from keihin because ive never heard of it but it could be true. the 41 pro from sudco is a bored 39 pwk, maybe hes thinking of that one

I own one, you dont..... And it seems your too dumb to call Sudco yourself.
I'd say the problem is on your end.

While he's gathering up all the goodies, I fumble through the Sudco catalog, and come across the new FACTORY machined 41.5mm PWK. Guys have been having their local machineshops bore 39mm PWK's out from some time, buy only recently has Keihin been offering this service directly.
John gives me a price I cant afford to pass up, badda-boom..badda-bing... its mine.
The machine work is beautiful, I think they hand select the castings to make sure that no "daylighting" occurs during the machine work process.

i missed that post some how, but its irrelevant anyways. bored at the factory, or in a rinky dink shop in southern california, it still starts life as a 39mm. from what danny said, i thought there was a new model that uses a new body at 41.5. its all cool
