A '97 made to look like an '01 and he thinks it's worth $7.5k? He's smokin' crack! :bong:

That's not what they went for in '01 either. :screwy: When I was waiting for my '02 CRF to come in, I could have had a crated '01 for $4.5K.

Damn I wish I would have bought that instead of that POS CRF!

"This bike is a 1997 CR500R that has been completly rebuilt. THIS IS A NEARLY BRAND NEW BIKE FOR THE SAME COST AS IT SOLD FOR IN 2001!!!!!!!!!! YOU CANT BUY THESE ANYMORE..... Own a awesome classic!!! Forget the Aluminum Framed Frankensteins...... this is an orginal.

This bike has 15 Minutes Break In run time. NO DIRT TIME AT ALL!!!!!

This bike was stripped completly down to the frame and was powder coated factory white. All the plastics including the tank are NEW HONDA. All mounting hardware has been replaced with NEW HONDA parts. Every nut, bolt, washer, zip tie have been replaced with NEW HONDA parts. Every fastener had been torqued per factory spec. All fastners that require loc-tite have also been done per HONDA spec..... the right color loc-tite for each fastner.

All the plastics and parts used are NEW HONDA and have updated this bike to 2001!

The engine has been completly rebuilt with new top and bottom end including the entire transmission...... the bottom end and transmission were done by Pro-Circuit. The top end port and cylinder work was done by Eric Gorr of Forward Motion Industries.

Pro Circuit set up the suspension for a 200 lbs experienced rider for desert. All new internal parts and springs. Rear shock has new spring and bladder cap as well as completely rebuilt

The engine has a Cool Head, 39.5MM Keihin PWK Air Striker Carb, and Boysen RAD Valve. It is putting out just under 79 HP.

The wheels are new Warp 9 with new stainless brake rotors.

On Jan-25-09 at 09:58:08 PST, seller added the following information:

I forgot to mention:

I have the Pink Slip (Title) in Hand and it is clear.

NEW Sprockets (2 Sets 13/49 and 14/51)

NEW RK Chain

NEW HONDA seat (not just a cover, the whole assembly)

NEW HONDA Airbox, boot assembly and hardware (entire assembly)

NEW Twin Air Air Filter

Work's Connection Frame Guards

IMS Shifter

Service Honda Clutch and Ignition Covers

NEW HONDA Fluids throughout including brake sytem

NEW Honda Brake Pads

All NEW HONDA Cables (Clutch and Throttle)

NEW HONDA Throttle Assembly

NEW Honda Kill Button.

NEW Bridgestone Front and Rear Tires

NEW Heavy Duty Bridgestone Tubes

The FLEXX handle bars are a $400.00 set-up alone.

As the bike was being reassembled all threads were cleaning and chased using metric dies. (To avoid stripped or cross threaded bolts as well as allow for proper torque)

The Frame was bead blasted, acid dipped and Finished with Outdoor (UV) Industrial Powder Coating

I also have all the receipts for the parts and work I've done..... All HONDA or Industry Leading Parts (NO KNOCKOFFS)

This bike is near Museum Quality.... but she deserves someone to ride her the way she wants to be ridden......

I wanted a NEW bike, the CRF450 doesnt do it for me.... This bike is the "muscle car" of dirt bikes... Im selling this bike for less than a New CRF450 and less than Service Honda's Aluminum Frankenstein's!!! Ask yourself this...... If a 500 engine in a Aluminum Chassis is the hot ticket then why didn't Honda pick it up???

I also have a NEW graphics Kit the goes with the bike. Its made by AMR, see the link below (sells for $149.00)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AMR-GRAP ... ccessories

If you need to ship this bike and your shipping company does not offer crating, I will have it proffesionally skid mounted for an extra $150.00 and deliver it to any shipping terminal within 50 miles of Zip Code 92501.

Anyway, you get the idea. This is a very rare opportunity to pick up a CR500 in this condition. GO ahead, shop a deal. If you want a CR500 and appreciate what they are then this is the bike you want. I will answer any questions you may have so please feel free to email me."
