I'm looking at buying a 89 motor for my 97 roller. I want to make sure this will work. So will this motor bolt right in or not? Thanks any help is appreciated.

I think the swingarm dolt is 15mm on the 89 and 17mm on your 97.

seems like it was '90 when the bolt changed, same year they changed the clutch. i might be wrong though

my opologies, it was '89-'01 that used larger swinger bolt

Well I have an'89 motor in my '95 cr500 chassis and it all bolted up good. I'm almost 100% pos it is 88 and under that use the smaller swingarm bolt.

I got a 1989 motor and the swingarm bolt from a 1999 CR 250 fits perfectly for my AF conversion. Of course many people use newer motors for the Gen 1 AFs so this means the swing arm bolt in the 1989 is the same as the newer years. I bet it will bolt right into the frame no problem.
