Has anybody put a 96 cr250 airbox, side panels, and rear fender on a 500?? It sure would help the aesthetics of the steelies. Or...even better...a 92-96 cr250 rear subframe, if it bolts into place.

I'm currently in the process of doing this. I was hoping to be done by now (started just before xmas), but family issues has hindered my garage time.
I worked on it a little last nite and I took some pictures. I will upload some tonite.
I'm using parts from 92-96 cr 250
-sub-frame
-airbox
-side plates
-seat
-tank
the original post i started for this is under Egornomics (91 500 to 96 250 hybird)

What if you did just use the side plates, air box and rear fender? If you did have to change the rear sub frame, do you have to change the seat?

TIA.

I put my complete 93 sub-frame on my 99 500. Cut off and rewelded the top mount on top of the old one. Right one is the same, cut off the lower left and weld in place after you attach air-boot to carb. 500 boot fits right into 250 box. You will need to re-position the inlet on the silencer. I made up a new front seat mount, used the existing plastic button and made a little extension plate to move it back towards the seat. The 500 seat does not fit the 250 subframe. Simple job and made the bike so much easier to ride. After riding my 500 after the changeover, i wouldn't even blink about ordering a brand new O.E.M. subframe. It was that good. The bike was just so much more rideable. A LOT skinnier. Looks a little weird with the seat not exactly matching the tank, but you don't notice THAT when the throttle's locked wide open and you're grinning from ear to ear.
