Your Future With Socialized Healthcare.

Post by mega491 »

Just throwing this out there. The federal government have failed us in the management of Social Security, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the VA healthcare system and the list goes on. What makes anybody think government administered socialized healthcare is going to work.

Go to the link and find the article about the girl with a kidney stone that the doctors cut her feet and hands off for a good example of how you and your loved ones will be treated under such a program. Disgusting!

I pay $530/mo for my shitty HMO, since the last pregnancy my wife has had knee, neck/back and tailbone pain thats pretty bad. she was trying to wait it out, but Jonny is over a year old now and she is still f-ed up. She went in and they took some x-rays. 3 weeks later we get a letter where they say she is "within tolerances with no major abnormalities" WTF, are they working on an engine or my wife. they won't let her see the x-rays and want to just give her pills
now, none of this surprises me, but I can tell you when I was 13 living in Hungary I walked in and got taken care of, either at the doctors office, dentist, er, etc.
infact a couple times a year at school they have a day when all the kids get checked out by a couple doctors like full blown physicals and it never cost a dime. when I got a gnarly rash for some alergic reaction then only thing we paid for was giving the doc. a tip  yup, you tip them like a waitress or cab driver
I hate to say it, but it is really sad that we are such a rich and powerful nation and we do such a poor job of taking care of our hard working citizens. we take care of everyone else though

Sounds like you Dr. is dropping the ball. You should get a second opinion. Depending on your state there should be a provision in you policy or by state statute allowing this at the cost of your provider. Maybe consider changing insurance cos. too.

ya, we're now working on a referal to a specialist. problem is all HMOs suck ass, the only other real option I have here in southern nevada is blue cross and they wouldn't insure us because when my wife was 17 some shrink declared her bipolar... I think every 17 YO girl is bipolar  so I am with HPN (health plan of nevada) they are owned by united or universal, or whoever they are. Everytime we use the insurance them bump up my premium. in the last 2 years it went from $445 gradually to $530 and everytime they say its so they can "continue to offer quality health care" what a crock of shit!
Of coarse kaiser perminente totally worked over my mom. if they would have sent her to a specialist right away she might not have needed to have c6-c7 fused. all they were willing to do is give her pain pills after her car accident, she even had to contact an attorney so they would provide her with an MRI and the MRI tech f-ed up and said "wow, that doesn't look good" before the doc looked at them and said they looked normal. when I saw the MRI, I could see the bulging disc and it isn't my job to look at those every day.
hate to say it... OH GOD I HATE TO SAY IT! but that fat fucking slob michael moore was dead on with sicko.

Here in Oregon if you switch ins cos. they have to take you at normal coverage premium and cover any existing condition so long as you were continually covered up to the day of the switch. If not they can exclude that condition for 6 months then will have to treat after 6 months. Mental included. Check your state law.

My premiums go up to on a regular basis but I think much of that is to offset rising costs and treatment of uninsured (income re-distribution?). I’m not sure though.

Kaiser can be bad, it’s a dice roll. They do have some good doctors.

No, do not give Moore any credence. Michael Moore targets you. He is a propagandist that takes a small minority that is in a bad way and makes them look mainstream and makes a movie about it, makes millions then probably does not donate a cent to charity (it all goes to pizza, donuts and cheeseburgers). This is the “you are the exception to the rule” scenario. Most insured receive timely successful treatment. I think many come here from those countries he highlights in his movie for treatment. Keep in mind in other foreign healthcare systems you most likely would have waited many more times and much longer to get where you are now with your treatment you are receiving here. You would not have recourse elsewhere as well.

I really have faith you and your wife will find resolve but it sounds like you might have to work for it harder than others. I wish you the best.

I've had some really bad experiances myself, with both HMO plans and PPO plans. I currently pay over $800 a month (wife, two young boys, myself) for whats basically major health coverage, as I have a $2500 deductible, so that leaves out going in for regular visits, checkups etc, unless I pay out of pocket. It's F'n ridiculouls. Its getting bad enough right now, with business and such, that I really can't afford it anymore. I've had alot of injuries and such, so its pricey for me.

I've also had claims denied before, and even had a lien put on me when I was younger, becuase I was airlifted once from the track, and I didn't call to have this pre-approved. I was knocked the F' out, and rather badly injured all around. How the hell was I supposed to call them and this pre-approved. They did finally pay the Medivac company, but this was after about a year, and I had a lawyer.
Too much of a puss for a 500!

yeah, we've been talking to a lawyer, My HMO failed to notify me that I didn't have maternity coverage, they paid for every single OBGYN visit durring the pregnancy, they approved everything even to the point where we got the a+ treatment and all the bonus goodies. then when Jonny was like 3 months old I get a $32,000 bill  yeah, apparently somewhere in the fine print it says I didn't have maternity coverage  long story short I give the hospital $50/mo forever so it will never go to collections
Oregon has a lot more protection in its laws that way, nevada does not, one of the reasons businesses like being in NV, fewer legal restrictions for business.
